Yesterday, the Go Online Marketing team donned our jerseys to show our support and solidarity for Humboldt, Saskatchewan. As lifelong sports fans, even though we come from very diverse backgrounds, this tragedy hit us particularly hard.
While some of us have never watched a live hockey game, others grew up in the local, community rink. But regardless of our backgrounds, it’s impossible not to be touched by this heartbreaking story. We can only imagine what the last week has looked like for members of the Humboldt community, the family and friends of those involved in the accident, and for victims who’ve found themselves in the hospital facing completely new realities.
But there is one thing that the past week has shown us – we, as a country, know the power of coming together. Whether it be through a simple message on social media, a donation on the Humboldt Broncos’ GoFundMe page, or wearing a jersey on #JerseyDay, Canada (and, in fact, the world) is showing just how #HumboldtStrong we all are.
We cannot take away your pain.
We cannot bring back your loved ones.
But we can show you that you will never be alone.
Today, tomorrow, and everyday hereafter, we are all Humboldt.
